The Nurse Clinician is a nurse who, through clinical experience, study and supervise practice in patient care at the masters or doctoral level, has gained expertise in a specific specialty area of patient care services. The Nurse Clinician demonstrates the advanced knowledge and skills required for specialty nursing. The Nurse Clinician is responsible and accountable for the developement and application of specialty practice standards, staff development, regulatory compliance and research to enhance the quality of care to the patient and the patient's family. As an advanced practitioner, the Nurse Clinician is essential to the management of complex patient and systems related issues.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

A Master degree in Nursing. Must hold current New York State Registered Nurse registration and certification or eligible for licensure in New York State.

Creates a collegial and collaborative environment among all members of the healthcare team. Demonstrated effective leadership, teaching, research and communication skills.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS :

Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for decisions. Utilizes problem-solving and decision making skills. Coaches and mentors staff. Researches and develops specialty specific practice standards and communicates them to other staff in their area of specialty.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to identify problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
