Summary:

Performs a variety of technical duties to assist inpreparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Prepares patientskin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Maintainsaseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could leadto breaches in aseptic technique. Provides comfort and support forpre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient'scare and privacy. Transports patients to and from Operating Roomsuite. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Identifiesand cares for biological specimens. Prepares the Operating Room bysetting up tables, instruments and supplies according to type ofcase.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma orequivalent.
  • Previous experience as an ORTech preferred.
  • Completion of anaccredited surgical tech program or current Texas LVN license
  • CPR-(American HeartAssociation).
  • Non LVNs, CST certificationrequired within six months from hire/transfer date. Associatesemployed on or before 09/01/09 are exempt from thisrequirement.
