Hennepin Healthcare is actively searching for a full-time Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) to lead the organization's Informatics, Analytics, and Information Technology strategies. The CHIO will be responsible for spearheading the development of technology and tools that improve clinical outcomes, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency for physicians and providers. Through the strategic use of data and technology, the CHIO will drive innovation in healthcare delivery and help achieve the organization's goal of delivering exceptional care to patients.

In collaboration with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) leads as the physician/provider representative in overseeing medical staff engagement, adoption, and optimization of clinical information systems and clinical informatics. A critical aspect of their role is to guarantee that clinical information systems effectively underpin best clinical practices through the integration of evidence-based medicine and data-driven decision-making. The CHIO, Associate CHIO, and Clinical Informaticists play a crucial role in customizing these systems to meet the needs of physicians/providers and facilitate efficient patient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of health information technology strategies to enhance clinical operations, streamline workflows, and improve patient care outcomes, including reduction in health disparities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, clinical staff, and information technology teams to ensure alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the adoption and optimization of clinical information systems, ensuring that they support best clinical practices and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide guidance and support to medical staff in the effective use of clinical information systems to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of health information technology systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Serve as an organizational resource for emerging trends and best practices in health informatics and technology to inform strategic decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree (MD, DO, or equivalent), Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a minimum of five (5) years clinical experience after training is required.
  • Formal experience in clinical informatics and/or informatics; Board Certification is preferred but not required.
  • Current (or eligible for) professional license by the applicable State Board to practice in the State of Minnesota.
  • Board certified/eligible in an ABMS recognized specialty and clinical informatics thorough the ABPM (if a physician).
  • Appropriate Board Certification for PA-C or APRN.
  • If applicable, must hold or be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota.
