SUMMARY:This is a key manufacturing position with management and technical oversight of day-to-day operations, production improvements, and ensuring the operational efficiency/safe operations of the Kraft, Recaust, and Recycle areas of the fibers department.

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Fiber (Pulp) Manufacturing Manager in working with shift supervisors and hourly employees in the operation ofthe process including 3 continuous Kamyr digesters, recaust plant, and recycle fiber plant.
  • Accountable for area performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPIs) to include: safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality, and productivity.
  • Drive safety to Zero injuries and support mill transition to safety focused culture.
  • Assist in direction of operations in a safe and orderly manner providing quality products according to job schedules and customer specifications.
  • Work with reliability/maintenance team members to plan and execute maintenance work to improve equipment/process reliability.
  • Establish and provide the operational expertise component of leading and managing our cultural change process, the strategic and forward-thinking capabilities in both the operational and human capital areas of the operation.
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement.
  • Determine training needs and administer appropriate training programs for hourly employees in their production area in the most reliable manner.
  • Assist in the creation/management of the KPIs and drive compliance to center lines.
Qualifications:

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-5 years of experience with Kamyr continuous pulp digesters and/or recausticizing plants is required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in the pulp and paper industry is required.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering preferred.
